How Do Fossils Form? This tutorial is here to illustrate the concept in detail about how to fossil form? But before going in the depth of concept, I think it will be pretty much better to introduce you about what is Fossil? Or what is Fossil made up of? Fossils are defined as leftovers of animal or plant in the depth of sea. Fossil maybe a complete body of animal or small pieces is also included in fossil. It includes any kind of vestige of animal and plants. So we can say that fossil is defined as remnant of animals and plants. Now the question comes how it forms? Actually the remaining material of dead animal and plant are gathered in the basement of sea. They remained gathering for several years and hence they form a big heap of fossil. The mineral of sea make it harder and harder and shape it into fossil of animal and plant. Imprint is a kind of fossil which are very rare or some of them are not available but just their fossils like Dinosaur. The wooden tree is also included in fossil category when it falls off and due to long period it converts into silica. The insects also form fossils after their death but the period for their fossil formation requires million of years. The fossils are formed with the sediment and mud underground the sea and make it strong in the form of rock.
